The domestic cricket circuit witnessed a historic spectacle today as Virat Kohli marked his long-awaited return to the Vijay Hazare Trophy with a blistering century, leading Delhi to a convincing 4-wicket victory over Andhra at the BCCI Centre of Excellence.

The Kohli Show: A Record-Breaking Return
After nearly 12 years away from India's premier List-A tournament, Kohli proved why he remains the "Chase Master." Chasing a challenging target of 299, Kohli anchored the innings with a magnificent 131 runs off 101 balls, decorated with 14 boundaries and 3 towering sixes.  
During this knock, Kohli also surpassed another milestone, becoming the fastest player to reach 16,000 List-A runs, breaking the previous record held by the legendary Sachin Tendulkar.  

Andhra’s Fighting Total
Earlier in the day, Andhra’s captain Nitish Kumar Reddy chose to bat first. The innings was defined by Ricky Bhui, who played a lone hand with a spectacular 122 off 105 deliveries. Despite losing partners at regular intervals, Bhui ensured Andhra reached a competitive 298.  
Delhi’s bowling attack was led by Simarjeet Singh, who dismantled the middle order to finish with a stellar 5-wicket haul (5/54). Veteran Ishant Sharma and Prince Yadav (3 wickets) also provided crucial support to keep the target under 300.  
The Chase: Explosive Start and Clinical Finish
Delhi’s chase began with a minor hiccup as Arpit Rana fell for a duck in the first over. However, young sensation Priyansh Arya took the attack to the bowlers, smashing 74 off just 44 balls.  
His departure brought together the veteran duo of Virat Kohli and Nitish Rana. The pair stitched a match-winning partnership, with Rana scoring an aggressive 77 off 55 balls. Though Delhi lost a few quick wickets towards the end—including skipper Rishabh Pant for 5—the foundation laid by Kohli ensured the team crossed the line with over 12 overs to spare.  

What’s Next for Delhi?
With this emphatic win, Delhi has signaled its intent for the 2025-26 season. The presence of international stars like Kohli, Pant, and Ishant Sharma makes them the team to beat in Group D.
